Designs with You in Mind

The high season on the Highlands-Cashiers Plateau is surely here and that means bright blossoms, familiar faces, and the much anticipated trunk shows of Acorns Boutique at Old Edwards Inn and Spa.

Starting off this month’s shows, and just in time for the Highlands Motoring Festival, will be a scarf extravaganza June 9 and 10.  Picture yourself in a vintage convertible with your hair draped in a gorgeous scarf from Acorns à la Audrey Hepburn.  Featured designers are Pia Rossini, Pulvermacher, Carolina Amato, Blue Pacific, Banaris, as well as others.  The very same weekend Agnus Dei Farms will be there presenting their beeswax-based products and old-fashioned soaps.

The next weekend, June 16 and 17, Acorns will host two designers, Planet Clothing and Julie Alyward Jewelry.  Planet Clothing, a longtime favorite in Highlands, is known for their creative collection of women’s apparel, which uses the finest natural fabrics.  Lauren Grossman, designer and owner of Planet, works with Irish handkerchief linen, pima cotton, and washed silk organza for the softest touch imaginable.  Julie Alyward Jewelry is feminine and romantic and highlights precious and semi-precious stones and metals.

On June 23 and 24, Elizabeth Locke Jewelry and Lorain Croft Fashions will be featured. Elizabeth Locke’s pieces incorporate history, fashion, and the finest craftsmanship available. You’ll find 18th century Chinese gambling counters, Essex crystals, miniature paintings or antique Japanese porcelain buttons all turned into unique works of art.  Lorain Croft’s luxurious and sophisticated fashions are all made in New York City and feature designs that are created to fit and flatter a variety of body shapes and sizes.

The final trunk show in June will be Coralia Leets Jewelry, June 30 and July 1.  The designs of Coralia Leets are affordable and modern and feature brightly colored stones, making them perfect for every occasion.
