Visit the 1840's cabin on the Cashiers Historical Society's historical grounds for a little bit of Christmas cheer. The cabin will be open
November 25 - 27th from 11 am to 3 pm. You are invited to read a Christmas story by the fireplace, make a craft or two, sip hot
chocolate, and eat Christmas cookies and other sweets.
This storefront decorating contest draws creative entries along and near Main St. to be enjoyed by all. Anyone may vote online for their favorite display for a chance to win a gift card. Better yet, holiday shoppers can make everyone on their list happy with gifts purchased from local Highlands merchants. Prizes are presented to local businesses who win a People’s Choice Award.

Everyone is cordially invited to a Christmas Carol Sing at Highlands First Presbyterian Church at 2pm on Saturday, December 3 after the Highlands Christmas Parade. If you enjoy singing familiar Christmas carols, you will definitely want to make this a part of your Christmas tradition. First Presbyterian Church is located at the corner of Main and Fifth Streets.
The parade starts at 3:00 P.M. but you’ll want to arrive early to park and find the perfect viewing spot. As in years past the parade marches up 107S from Cashiers School Road, turns left at the light down Highway 64, and ends by turning left on Frank Allen Road.

Listening to the Land is a nine-month photography exploration of the Bartram Trail near Highlands, NC. Influenced by the legacy of William Bartram, photographers of all levels will be invited to enter an intimate world where the landscape is alive and waiting to be met, understood, and loved. Through workshops and dynamic online engagement, Kinship will help photographers cultivate a faithful conversation with the land that explores the rich biodiversity of place while honoring each photographer’s unique way of seeing and responding to the land.
