The Bascom Winter Resident Artist Program, better known as the W.R.A.P., calls on Students or Faculty from the surrounding universities to submit site-specific installation proposals for The Bascom’s unique and beautiful Thompson Gallery.

Emergence: A Survey of Southeastern Studio Programs 2023 at The Bascom

Emergence celebrates the role of teaching and mentoring in artistic development, highlighting works by faculty mentors their students. The 34 pairs of artists presented in this exhibition represent 20 institutions of higher education from the Southeast. Their works represent a wide variety of approaches to subject matter, innovative use of materials, and mastery of traditional mediums being taught and practiced in contemporary studio programs.

A free public reception will be held Thursday, February 23 at 5pm at The Bascom to celebrate our winter exhibitions.

Known as the “Cheers” of Bookstores, the Bookworm in Highlands is affiliated with the Hudson Library: all books are donated; all staff are volunteers; and all funds go to help support the library. More than a retail store, we are a community service offering carefully sorted donated books to provide the best quality at a used bookstore price.

If you're lucky enough to be Irish—or in Highlands—you're lucky enough! Join us for a cheerful celebration of St. Paddy's Day, including Irish dishes in Madison's Restaurant and Irish pints & cocktails in Hummingbird Lounge on March 17 and 18.

Complimentary Irish festivities in Hummingbird Lounge for guests and the public include:

    •    The “Battle of the Barrels” Scotch, Bourbon, and Japanese and Irish Whiskey Tasting Friday and Saturday from 4 - 5 pm
