Emergence: A Survey of Southeastern Studio Programs 2023 at The Bascom

Emergence celebrates the role of teaching and mentoring in artistic development, highlighting works by faculty mentors their students. The 34 pairs of artists presented in this exhibition represent 20 institutions of higher education from the Southeast. Their works represent a wide variety of approaches to subject matter, innovative use of materials, and mastery of traditional mediums being taught and practiced in contemporary studio programs.

A free public reception will be held Thursday, February 23 at 5pm at The Bascom to celebrate our winter exhibitions.

Snow Fest at 4118 at Kelsey Hutchinson Founder’s Park

Kelsey-Hutchinson Founder's Park 411 Pine St., Highlands

Bring friends and family for guaranteed winter fun (courtesy of snow blowers) at an elevation of 4,118 feet!

A snowball toss, a snow tube merry-go-round, a snow slide, an ice-skating rink and more will be waiting. S'mores will be available for a donation and roasting, with proceeds going to the Highlands School Booster Club. Warm up with a cup of a cup of cider, courtesy of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Meadows Mountain Realty. Music will be provided by DJ Jimmy Shur.

Move with joy in a real-life snow globe during a session of "snowga" (a twist on yoga) on Sunday from 1 - 1:45 p.m. Instructor Rachel Kinback from Yoga Highlands will lead the class, featuring playful movement and connection. No yoga mats are necessary!

 Don't forget to dress for snow!
