Description

Friends of Panthertown Valley in collaboration with Nantahala Area SORBA welcome both mountain bikers and hikers to sign-up and volunteer at this Panthertown Valley work day.

Michael Despeaux of Nantahala Area SORBA writes, “Panthertown Valley is a wonderful, multi-use natural area that offers great mountain biking, hiking, fishing, horseback riding, and even kayaking. By rolling our sleeves up and helping maintain its trail system, local mountain bikers will be demonstrating their commitment and investment as team players and stakeholders.”

We will meet at the Salt Rock Trail Head at the end of Breedlove Road ready-to-go at 9:00AM on Saturday, April 7. For anybody looking to caravan or carpool, meet at East Laporte Park parking lot at 8:00AM for a 8:15AM sharp departure.

Some notes:
Wear good work shoes or boots, rough pants, bring layers.
Pack lunch and bring enough water for yourself for the day.
Bring your own gloves, or we will have some extra pairs if needed.
Bring a bike helmet and wear it for the photo ops and for safety…
Mountain bikers serving and being safe.

Kids are welcome to come help too as long as they’re supervised and old enough to handle pruners/loppers. They can cut back brush. A good idea to help children with short attention spans have fun might be for one parent/adult to cut out with them at lunch.

We should wrap up around 3.

Send e-mail to jmichaeldespeaux@gmail.com or friends@panthertown.org with any questions, and please sign up so that we can plan our day according to numbers!
