You don’t have to travel far this year to find a pumpkin patch; there’s one right here on Main Street, Highlands.

Thanks to the Highlands United Methodist Church, the lawn will be spread with pumpkins of all shapes and sizes on Saturday, October 5. It’s time for the annual Pumpkin Fest, a  project that supports the youth programs at HUMC, including their mission trips.

Pumpkins will be delivered to Highlands the Wednesday before from Deal Farms in Franklin and it’s a welcome sight and one of the first signs of the festive Fall Season.

As always, there will be lunches offered for sale and the church youth will also deliver to downtown merchants. You can select from the hot dog lunch for $5 which includes chips, drink, and condiments or a bratwurst lunch for $6 which also includes chips, drink, and condiments.

Pumpkins will be available for sale until Halloween Eve and prices are quite reasonable. Bring your wee ones and let them pick out one just for them. Whether you carve or  paint, it’s a great way to decorate for Halloween, and all for a great cause.

If you can’t make the Festival you can still support the youth by sending your checks to HUMC at PO Box 1959, Highlands, NC 28741 (MEMO: Youth Missions) or visit highlandsmethodist.org to give online.
