Humane Society Open House
On Saturday, July 22, from 10:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. the Cashiers-Highlands Humane Society is celebrating our annual Open House and the 30th anniversary of our founding.
The event is family-friendly and pet-friendly. That’s right, bring the kids and bring the pets for a day of fun-filled activities, including: a low-cost vaccination clinic and free nail trim for pets; lunch and refreshments provided by Coca-Cola; live music; pet portraits by Marty Boone; a CHHS Hikers for Hounds “mini-hike,” CHHS Canine Coach dog obedience demonstrations; raffle prizes and much more.
At last year’s Open House, we commemorated the grand opening of the new CHHS Canine Adoption Center, Western North Carolina’s most modern animal welfare facility and the single-largest expansion in our history. We marked the historic occasion with one of our famous “ribbon-chewing” ceremonies (pictured above). This year, we are celebrating the successful first 12 months of the new center and we are also paying tribute to our 30th year of saving lives, providing low-cost spay/neuter, and finding forever homes for nearly 500 animals annually.
The Open House will feature tours of our 10-acre campus, our beautiful new entrance, the CHHS H.E.A.R.T. of North Carolina medical/rescue vehicle, the new CHHS Canine Adoption Center and our recently-expanded play yards, and also a sneak peek of what we have in store for our feline friends in 2018. Come share in the celebration of our lifesaving work that has saved the lives of thousands of abandoned, abused, and neglected animals in our community over the past 30 years.
