Magnificent blossoms in a rainbow of colors take center stage at the Highlands Historical Society’s Dazzlin’ Dahlias Flower Show, set for Saturday, September 10, at the Highlands Civic Center.

Plan now to enter your dahlias in the Saturday afternoon Dahlia Exhibit. Blooms are accepted on Friday afternoon, September 9, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. or Saturday morning from 8:00 to 10 A.M. at the Highlands Civic Center, 600 North Fourth Street.  Registration  is $10 per exhibitor.  Youngsters 17 years old and younger are urged to show their prowess at growing dahlias.  There’s a special category for their entries.

The public is invited to view all the beautiful dahlias from 1:00 to 5:00 P.M.  Admission is $ 5 per person, with all proceeds going to support the many civic projects of the Highlands Historical Society.  Be sure to pick up one or two flower arrangements for your home and some for your friends too. There is no better bargain in town.

Jody Zahner, owner of Chattooga Gardens, will speak at 2:00 P.M., sharing tips about growing the prettiest dahlias around. Following Zahner’s talk, stick around to get tips from local artists on how to incorporate dahlias along with other flowers in both small and large arrangements.

Be sure to stop by the Prince House at the HHS Village for refreshments and to enjoy the music of Les Scott on his Appalachian Dulcimer from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M.
