One of the best ways to spend an afternoon on the Plateau is on the green, club in hand. What could be better than fresh mountain air, a good shot and a little friendly competition?

On Monday, August 26, turn your favorite pastime into a force for good and join the Highlands United Methodist Church at the Cullasaja Club for their third annual Golf Tournament.

Registration and practice will begin at 11:00 A.M. The tournament will begin at noon. It’s a Captain’s Choice tournament, and prizes will be awarded for Hole in One, Longest Drive, Closest to The Pin, among others. Mulligans and tee busters will be available for purchase at registration on the day of
the tournament.

The field is limited to the first 22 teams to register, so be sure to secure your spot early. Registration is $200 per person or $800 per team.

The Cullasaja Club will provide a box lunch during the tournament and a buffet dinner will be served immediately afterward.

“We are very appreciative of the Club for their hospitality,” says Reverend Randy Lucas, “We’re grateful to the sponsors and golfers that participate in the tournament.”

HUMC began the tournament to help fund the creation of their new Faith and Fellowship Center. This beautiful facility opened in October of 2017.

“Our vision is for the community to benefit from it,” says Rev. Lucas. “Highlands is a very generous community and we are mindful and thankful for that.”

The facility has hosted several events in the year-and-a-half that it has been open, including the weekly VFW breakfast meeting, a blood drive and an active shooter seminar presented by the Highlands Police Department. It is also home to the HUMC Food Pantry and HUMC’s weekly 909 Bluegrass Worship Service.

If you’d like to support the tournament, you can sponsor a hole for $100. Signs will be placed at each hole to recognize the sponsors. To sponsor a hole or register for the tournament, contact Keith Crawford at finsec13@gmail.com.
