Though the temperature of Highlands Rec Park Pool is kept a balmy 82 degrees, you’d be forgiven if you find it a little bit chilly on Friday, October 4. That’s because they’ll be screening “Hocus Pocus” for its Dive-In Movie.

It’s a feel-good Halloween film from the Walt Disney Company. It involves a trio of witches (Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy, and Sarah Jessica Parker, nearly a female version of The Three Stooges), who are revived after 300 years on Halloween night, ready to make an entire town fall under their spell. As you’d guess, only a small crew of kids are prepared to stand in their way. All the Halloween essentials are covered, from trick-or-treaters to zombies waking from the dead. Add a hilarious, slapstick chase around town on buses, cycles, mops and vacuum cleaners and you’ll have fun, fun, fun until Daddy takes the broomstick away.

Though the movie has a few “scary” parts, most children should be able to take the hijinks in stride. After all, one of the witches rides around on an old Hoover Upright Vacuum Cleaner.

This marks the second time that “Hocus Pocus” has been shown at the pool. It made its Highlands premiere on October 2017, the first Dive-In Movie.

The pool will open at 6:30 P.M. and the movie starts at 7:00. Admission is $5 and includes a bag of popcorn. The audience can enjoy the movie from the water, or in lounge chairs. If the air is chilly, heaters will be available to ensure everyone is comfy.
