In this presentation, we will explore the issue of what the framers of the Constitution were really thinking when they composed Article 1, Section 3 that describes the role of the Senate to “have the sole power to try all impeachments.” We will then explore the uses and abuses of the concept of “original intent” of the framers as a debatable issue. Presenter: William Lasser is the Alumni Distinguished Professor of Politcal Science and Director of the Calhoun Honors College at Clemson University. He received the Ph.D. from Harvard University.
