Fall at the Playhouse

“Chef”  Written, directed and starring Jon Favreau is in the lineup for Highlands Playhouse’s Highlands Foodie Film Festival.

Greetings from the Highlands Playhouse. We had a fantastic 2017 summer and thank all of those who came out to enjoy this season’s productions with us.

We have a couple of exciting events coming up this fall that we can’t wait to share with you.  First off, on Saturday October 28 we will host our third annual screening of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.” This experience is not to be missed!  Costumes are encouraged, and we will once again offer “prop bags” with all the items you’ll need to participate in the interactive experience that makes the film a fan favorite.  Tickets are available in the box office or on our website prior to the show; prop bags will go on sale October 24 and be available until the night of the film - while supplies last.  Absolutely no outside props will be permitted. Avoid the line on the night of the show and get your tickets early on our website or in person at the box office.

Secondly, it is with great pleasure that we announce our first annual Foodie Film Festival in conjunction with the Highlands Food & Wine Festival.  On November 10, 11, and 12 we’ll screen a different food-themed movie each day.  The lineup is as follows: Friday, Nov 10, we offer “Chef.”  Written, directed and starring Jon Favreau and featuring a phenomenal supporting cast, “Chef” is a winsome dramatic comedy.  On Saturday, November 11, we feature “Jeremiah Tower: The Last Magnificent.”  This biography not only features the complicated and controversial Tower, one of America’s first celebrity chefs, but also serves as commentary on contemporary dining amid a rapidly-changing cultural landscape.

Sunday, November 12, we close with the beloved “Big Night,” which tells the story of a failing Italian restaurant run by two brothers who gamble on one special night to try to save their business.  Tony Shalhoub and Stanley Tucci are a delight.  Show times are 2:00, 5:00, and 8:00 P.M. and tickets are $9.  As a treat for our friends and visitors, each day we will offer a bit of specialty fare at our concessions counter provided by a local eatery!  Check in with HighlandsPlayhouse.org for event details, film trailers, tickets, and more.  Bon appetit!
