Baldaroo Music Festival

The Boys & Girls Club of the Plateau changes lives through education, play, and companionship.  Their fundraiser, The Baldaroo Music Festival, is being held Saturday, September 16, at Fairfield Lake.

Held rain or shine, this second annual event will be at the base of Bald Rock Mountain in Sapphire Valley at the amphitheater on the shore of Fairfield Lake.  Gates open at 3:30 P.M. and the music starts at 4:30 P.M.

Headlining the festival is The Kurt Thomas Band, joined by Jay Drummonds, Hurricane Creek, and Madison Chance of Atlanta.  You can count on great food and lots of fun and it’s all capped off by a spectacular show of fireworks.

Boys & Girls Club of the Plateau officially opened its doors in September of 2014 and houses its daily activities in the Cashiers Community Center as well as a Meeting Room in the Firehouse.  They continue to grow and incorporate more programs and activities to enhance the experience for every child.

As a 501 (c) 3 non-profit youth development institution, they depend on philanthropic support to continue the work they do for youth on the Highlands-Cashiers Plateau.  By attending the 2017 Baldaroo Music Festival, you’ll be helping fund their outstanding programs.

Volunteer Suzanne Evans says, “The club’s purpose is to enable all young people, especially those who need it most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.  They accomplish this with structured programs focused on education and character development. Although some may think of the Club as after-school care, it is much, much more than that.”

The membership of The Boys & Girls Club of the Plateau is spread across students from Summit Charter school as well as public schools, so it’s managed to bridge the gap between the two, enabling the children to learn and play with a wider demographic.

Make plans now to attend the Baldaroo Music Festival Saturday, September 16.  Tickets may be purchased at, at the club office, at the Cashiers Area Chamber of Commerce, and other locations around town.  You may also call the club at (828) 743-2775 for more information.
