Your Pumpkin Awaits

It wouldn’t be October in Highlands if the youth at Highlands United Methodist Church didn’t have their Pumpkin Patch on the church’s front lawn.

For the past several years these energetic young people have raised funds to support their Youth Ministries, which includes local, community-wide service projects, working with the homeless in Atlanta, the hungry in Haiti, and many other projects.  Not only do these projects change the lives of the people served, they teach the Youth life lessons that they will remember for a lifetime.

The pumpkins will arrive on Wednesday afternoon, October 4, and be available until they are all sold.  Big or small, round or oval, these pumpkins come in varying sizes.  Each will spruce up your home décor.

Pumpkin prices are affordable ranging from $1 to $20.  Yes, you certainly can pre-order and you can buy in bulk.  If you need several pumpkins, the HUMC Youth can
fulfill that need.  Just call the Church Office at (828) 526-3376 or email humcjennifer@gmail.com.

Bring the kids and grandkids to the Pumpkin Festival on Saturday, October 7, from 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. on the front lawn of the church at 315 Main Street in downtown Highlands.  In addition to a tasty lunch of grilled hot dogs or bratwurst with all the fixings, chips, and a beverage, all for only $6. The kids will enjoy both pumpkin and face painting.  Grandma’s Bakery will offer some tasty homemade baked goods.  Get enough to enjoy some now and put some in your freezer for later.

If you can’t make the festival but want to support the youth, send your checks to HUMC at PO Box 1959, Highlands, NC 28741 or visit highlandsmethodist.org.
