It’s Tailgating Time Again

The Village Green Tailgate Market opens its second season on Wednesday, May 24, at The Village Green Commons on Frank Allen Road next to the Cashiers Post Office.

The market is a seasonal Wednesday community event every week from 3:00 to 6:00 P.M. and features a full range of local foods produced sustainably.  Vendors at the market sell seasonal produce as well as naturally-raised meat and dairy.  The market features fruits and vegetables but also goat cheese, fresh eggs, sausage and bacon, grass-fed poultry, certified Angus beef, as well as locally sourced trout.  Homemade foods such as tasty granolas, freshly baked bread, and delicious dips and spreads are also sold.

Local folk musicians often add to the market atmosphere.  Items are always locally sourced, so by purchasing local goods, money is recycled back into the local economy.  Vendors have a direct hand in providing the foods they sell.  Their passion yields the highest quality, and they are happy to share their knowledge as well as tasty tips with customers.

The Village Green provides a beautiful, free public space, however it is conserved by a nonprofit organization that depends on contributions to maintain the park and provide such an exceptional venue for the community.  To learn more about The Village Green, visit
