Angler Gifts

Fly fishing is a popular sport. Millions of people worldwide spend time catching every manner of fish in any type of water on the fly. However, if you aren’t one of those people and someone on your Christmas gift list is, it can be difficult to know what to get that person.

At first it may seem daunting since a lot of items related to fly fishing are very specific. Do they fish mostly in saltwater or freshwater? Are they using dry flies or nymphs? And when it comes to gear, a novice will probably miss the bull’s-eye more often than not when trying to purchase something a fly fisherman will actually use. So here are some universal things you can get for fly fishing enthusiasts of all shapes or sizes, be they men or women.

Waterproof pouches and Dry Bags: It doesn’t matter whether someone fishes lakes, streams, saltwater or fresh, the one common denominator is that they are all in and around water. In this day and age, we all carry things that we don’t want to get wet and waterproof pouches and dry bags for phones, memory sticks, cameras, extra clothes, and electronic key fobs are a must for any fisherman, and we always need more of them.

Lightweight Quick Dry pants and shirts:  Again, no matter where you’re fishing, the chances of getting wet are much greater than while on dry land, so quick drying – or wicking – shirts and pants are a must for anglers.

Wading pole: A collapsible pole that fisherman use to test water depth. None of us ever think to get one for ourselves. But as a gift? Very cool.
